A little bit about me...

With Nix | About Nix

Hi, I'm Nikki – though some know me as Nix

I bring a unique combination of lived experience and professional insight. I’ve navigated major life challenges — stroke recovery, cancer, and personal loss — and professionally, I’ve supported people through rehabilitation, recovery, and business development.

I’m currently training as a coach and mentor, blending personal experience with structured tools to offer compassionate and practical guidance.

My approach is simple: listen, understand, support, and empower. Everyone deserves guidance, encouragement, and a safe space to grow — and that’s what I aim to provide.

My Small Business and Life Journey

I’m a Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Administrative professional and project manager with over 40 years’ experience across a wide range of sectors, including at directorship level.

In September 2024, my life changed in an instant when I suffered an acute stroke. I bent to pick something up, lost my vision, and in the blink of an eye (literally!), nothing was the same again. A year on, after navigating recovery with determination, exploring therapies, and shedding a few (okay, more than a few!) tears, I created With Nix to offer affordable support — both professionally and personally — drawing on the skills and experiences I’ve gathered along the way.

My stroke left me with hemianopia (partial loss of vision to the left). While I can still function well, I can’t drive — the biggest loss has been my independence (but if you spot the occasional typo, please do let me know!).

My Career Path

I started working at 16 in modelling and promotional work — not the obvious path to business management, perhaps, but it gave me invaluable life experience, an introduction to the fashion and hospitality worlds, and even the chance to buy my first home before 21.

From there, I found my way into office work, then into accounting, admin, property investment, management and development. I went on to implement systems that helped businesses grow, run companies, and even step up to manage one when my brother-in-law was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Life threw curveballs — recession, family illness, grief, and divorce — but I kept moving forward, learning resilience and resourcefulness at every turn.

Over the years I’ve worn many hats: Bursar in a primary school, Business Manager in construction, business owner in branding and marketing, and part of a management team at a charity run, residential rehabilitation facility for addiction. I’ve worked with clients across industries — from pubs and farm shops to fashion boutiques, yoga instructors and property developers — building websites, managing social media, writing editorial, and running events.

Life Beyond Work

Alongside my career, I’ve navigated cancer within my family, the heartbreak of loss, and the challenges of rebuilding life after divorce. These experiences have shaped not just what I do but who I am — and they’re why I’m passionate about mentoring & coaching and supporting others through difficult chapters like stroke recovery, illness, grief, and life transitions.

I now live in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, where I’ve swapped my city heels for wellies (though the fashion lover in me will never quite leave!). I’m a keen traveller, foodie, photographer, (novice) yoga enthusiast, lover of sunsets, and (now) occasional sipper of a fine white Burgundy.

If my story resonates with you — whether you’re looking for business support, mentorship, or just a warm conversation — I’d love to connect.
