There is no requirement for formal training to be a life coach or mentor - however - I am in training to be a qualified Mentor & Coach

Getting the help you need...

On this page I have included some useful links for anyone that is searching for help above what I currently offer.  Below explains the most common forms of help :

Counselling / Therapy
Focuses on the past. A safe space to talk things through, understand yourself better, and work through challenges such as stress, anxiety, or past experiences. It’s about healing and finding balance.

Mentoring
Learning from someone who’s walked the path before you. A mentor shares their experience, advice, and encouragement to help you grow and move forward with confidence.

Life Coaching
Focuses on where you want to go in life. A coach helps you set clear goals, stay motivated, and take practical steps toward the future you want. â€‹Coaches do not provide advice or guidance they use a series of tools & techniques to assist clients to find solutions independently.

Finding the right Counselling Therapy for you

I started my journey as a life coach and mentor with support and encouragement from a close friend who I now work closely with - Nas is a BACP registered counsellor and is also experienced in Somatic Therapy :

Finding the right Life Coach to build your confidence and find motivation

I was sceptical on Life Coaching, but I did an online course so I had a better understanding, and then some reasearch on who I thought I could connect with.  I used these websites to find the right Life Coach for me - to gain confidence and to help me to move forward.

Stroke Recovery

I found getting help following my stroke challanging; it's one of the reasons I decided to offer an affordable service for stroke surviors.  I did find empathy; however some of the direction I was given simply sent me down rabbit holes and to out of date information.  You may however benefit from these websites with your recovery :

Living with Cancer

My strongest advice is to be wary of Google - not everything will relate to you or your loved one, and some of what you may read online can be scary and upsetting.

 

Preparing a list of questions and your fears to discuss with your consultant is the best way forward - BE HONEST - keep a diary and make notes on anything out of the norm that you are feeling - no matter how small.  Never be affraid to ask - no matter how silly it may feel.

And... the power of having a postive mental attitude can honestly work miracles.

​

There are many online avenues and platforms to help with cancer, my experience with Macmillan was second to none and I cannot recommend them enough.

Finding help with dependancy - addiction

The stigma attached to addiction, especially alcohol addiction, is thankfully fading - abstinence is becoming normal and the availability of alcohol free drinks is increasing by the day.

If you are supporting, or struggling, with someones addiction do reach out to AI-Anon  - they have an Instagram page that is useful encouragment too.

​

If you are struggling with a dependancy yourself, the AA and NA provide valuable help and a path to recovery; but the 12 Step prorgram is not for everyone.

 

Instagram and Podcasts are a great way to dip your toe into sobriety - Dryy is one I would recommend, Dr Alex George is another.

Navigating Divorce

Strongest advice is to try mediation first, quickly followed by speaking to a friend or anyone with lived experience.  Seeking legal counsel is not only expensive, but you will truly be entering a whole new world.

There are many support groups out there, for both women and for men - reach out for advice in your area, among your friendship group and work colleagues and online forums.

Coping with Grief

Grief, in my experience, is such a personal emotion and would be my top of the list to seek support via a life coach, mentor or counsellor, as you navigate all of your emotions. I don't believe we ever get over the loss of someone we love (including our four-legged friends!), but with time, and with help, we can learn to live with the pain.

If you are suffering with loss and grief, do reach out - talking is so important - be that with friends, family or collegues or via external support.

​

There is absolutely no time-frame for you to accept your loss; you must be kind to yourself.
